The giant attacker told of the time he had £1 taken from his wages after drinking fruit juice at a hotel minibar
Former Manchester United fan-favourite Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed how he was left baffled after the club took £1 off his wage bill after drinking a fruit juice from a hotel minibar.
The Sweden legend, who featured 53 times between 2016 and 2018 for the Red Devils, is due to release a new book next year titled ‘Adrenaline: My Untold Stories’.
Excerpts of it have been provided ahead of its full launch, including a snippet of the perplexing tale involving the fruit juice.
Ibrahimovic told of how he once grabbed a quick drink from a hotel bar before a match, assuming United would play for it.
He described his shock when he discovered the club had instead deducted the cost of the beverage from his wage packet.
As per Sportbladet , the 40-year-old wrote: “If I had a spontaneous meeting in Rome, Galliani (former AC Milan chief) made sure that the club’s private jet was available, without me having to pay.
“I’m not saying that everything should be free, but a fruit juice… And you say you are one of the world’s biggest clubs?”
Meanwhile, the attacker has also spoken about how his actions on social media cost Ed Woodward £5m upon his free transfer to Manchester United.
Ibrahimovic scored 29 goals during his stay at Old Trafford, helping United lift the League Cup and Europa League in 2017.
He was plagued by injury towards the latter end of his period in Manchester and ended up moving to MLS franchise LA Galaxy in March 2018.
Despite his age, the former PSG superstar has seemingly found a new lease of life at current club AC Milan.
Since his switch to the San Siro from the States in January 2020, he has netted 34 times in 59 games.
Currently in his third spell at Milan, he has scored a total of 90 goals in 144 matches for the club.
