France coach, Didier Deschamps has expressed confidence in Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante’s fitness ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
France head coach Didier Deschamps is confident midfielder Paul Pogba will be fit for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Pogba rejoined Serie A club, Juventus from Manchester United on a free transfer this summer window and injured the meniscus in his right knee during the preseason.
The 29-year-old decided against surgery which would have ruled him out of the World Cup and instead opted for conservative treatment .
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante though is injury free at the moment had to withdraw from the France squad in June during the UEFA Nations League.
In an interview with Le Parisen Deschamps appeared confident that the former Manchester United star and injury prone Kante would participate in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
“His participation in the World Cup is not up for question,” Deschamps said about Pogba.
“We’re talking about important players.
“They’re key,they’ve a lot of experience,they’re leaders.
“It’s important for them to be there,but we can never be sure. That is why we need to make sure our young players are ready.
“Of course I’m in contact with Paul, and at the moment his involvement at the World Cup is not in doubt.”
Pogba has scored 11 goals in 91 appearances for the French national team.
Kante has scored two goals in 53 appearances for the French national team.
France have won the FIFA World Cup twice, in 1998 and 2018.
